How Copper-Zinc Water Treatment Systems Work

The combination of copper and zinc (patented under the trade name KDF®) in water treatment systems removes chlorine, chloramines, iron, lead, bacteria, hydrogen sulfide, and many other problem contaminants from the water supply. It also reduces scale and hardness without salt.

KDF® is a patented technology for fluid purification. It has been certified under NSF Standards 42 and 61 and approved by the U.S. EPA, and the Ohio EPA for use in potable drinking water systems. The U.S. EPA also has certified KDF® as a pesticidal device because of KDF's ability to control bacteria, algae, fungus, mold and leginella through the natural redox process (reduction-oxidation) and without the release of harmful ions.KDF® also has been certified by the New Jersey EPA as Best Available Technology for mercury removal from contaminated wells and other water.
